We're here to fight for working class Texans.
Stop the GOP’s Attack on Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security
The GOP just voted to gut Medicaid and Medicare—slashing billions from healthcare while handing tax breaks to billionaires. These cuts would take healthcare away from working-class Texans, seniors, and families who depend on it. But some Reps like Al Green said no and galvanized the nation's attention to fight back. We’re following in his footsteps by mobilizing voters in Houston-area congressional districts where Republican representatives voted to defund these critical programs.
What’s at Stake for Houston?
Texas already has one of the highest uninsured rates in the country, and nearly 6 million Texans rely on Medicaid for healthcare. These proposed cuts will take coverage away from children, pregnant women, seniors in nursing homes, and people with disabilities. The numbers speak for themselves:
Medicaid recipients by Houston Congressional District
-
TX-2: Dan Crenshaw: 109,132
-
TX-8: Morgan Luttrell: 126,475
-
TX-22: Troy Nehls: 96,391
-
TX-36: Brian Babin: 139,308
-
TX-38: Wesley Hunt: 78,983
Republicans in Congress have proposed slashing over $2.3 trillion from Medicaid over the next decade. Their plan includes:
-
Massive cuts to Medicaid that could eliminate coverage for millions, leaving hospitals overwhelmed with uninsured patients.
-
Medicare “reforms” that would gut funding and shift costs onto seniors.
-
Cuts to Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), threatening support for those unable to work due to disabilities.
-
Trillions in tax cuts for billionaires and corporations while making life harder for everyday Texans.
Over 500,000 folks in these districts (and many more in blue districts across Houston) are danger of losing their Medicaid, Medicare, or Social Security.
These aren’t just numbers. These are working-class families, single mothers, seniors, and veterans who depend on these programs. Without Medicaid, nursing home residents could be evicted, disabled Texans could lose their care, and working parents would be left without affordable healthcare for their children.
-
We are launching a massive voter outreach effort—texting over 600,000 working-class voters to ensure they know exactly what’s happening and who is responsible. We’re also organizing town halls in Republican districts to hold elected officials accountable for putting their donors before their constituents.
Our Plan to Fight Back
We are taking this fight to the voters Republicans are hoping to keep in the dark.
Here’s how:
-
Mass Texting Outreach: We’re texting over 600,000 working-class voters in these districts to tell them exactly how their representatives voted. Every $50 donated helps us reach 1,000 more voters.
-
Town Halls in GOP Districts: We are planning on trying to host or alert affected individuals to public town halls in TX-2, TX-8, TX-22, TX-36, and TX-38, where voters can speak out about their concerns, hear from experts, and demand answers from their elected officials. If they refuse to show up, we will make that clear to their voters.
-
Direct Community Engagement: We are reaching voters where they are—in churches, at food banks, and in community centers—because we know traditional political outreach leaves working-class communities behind.
-
Holding Republicans Accountable: These representatives count on voters not knowing what they’re up to. We’re making sure every voter in their district knows the truth before the next election.
What You Can Do Right Now
This fight isn’t just about policy—it’s about real people who will lose their healthcare if we don’t act. Here’s how you can help:
✅ Volunteer: Help with phone banking, door knocking, and community outreach. We need people on the ground and online.
✅ Donate: Every dollar funds our texting, ads, and outreach efforts. $5,000 allows us to text 600,000 voters.
✅ Attend a Town Hall: If you live in TX-2, TX-8, TX-22, TX-36, or TX-38, come and hold your representative accountable.
✅ Spread the Word: Share this page, talk to friends, and make sure people understand what’s happening.
We don’t have billionaires funding us—we have each other.
The GOP is betting that voters won’t notice these cuts until it’s too late. Let’s prove them wrong. Join us today and help stop them from dismantling the programs that millions of Texans rely on.
